Golden Boys Visit

Just one day before our ‘Unstoppable’ gala boxing event Lennox Lewis paid our club a visit and brought with him Audley Harrison, a top pro contender and 2000 Olympic super heavyweight gold medalist for Britain.  Naturally being two top British heavyweights the two knew each other pretty well and liked working together, so Lennox brought Audley to train with and get some tips from our resident Master coach, Adrian Teodorescu.  Audley and his trainer, Kelvyn Travis arrived with Lennox on Friday evening before the show, but Lennox had to go away that weekend so he alone was unable to attend our show where his mother, Violet and his friends had a VIP table.

After the weekend it was down to business as Lennox and Audley came in every day the following week to train with Adrian , and Lennox got in on the training as he worked closely with Audley.  A giant, 6’6” of southpaw, Audley, now a pro with a record of 21-3 with 16 KOs is poised to be a top ten contender, having lost once to Danny Williams then avenged his loss in impressive fashion, and just off a loss to Michael Sprott, needed some freshness and innovation in his skills and training.  Lennox highly recommended Adrian and over came Audley and Kelvyn and both proved very willing to listen as my father gave them his take on what Audley could improve upon.

Atlas thanks Lennox for bringing Audley down to our gym to train with Adrian and we look forward to seeing Lennox more in the future as he finds his way to trying his hand at coaching, which he showed to be very adept at.  And we also wish only the best for Audley and Kelvyn in their quest to reach the highest levels of professional boxing, and we welcome them to feel at home at our club anytime they’re in Toronto .
